Award-winning red wine specialist Alto Estate will present a rare pre-release tasting of its 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon as part of the Cabernet Vintage Preview on the 19 and 20 October in Stellenbosch.

Festival-goers will also get the opportunity to experience some of its older vintages under the tutelage of Alto winemaker Bertho van der Westhuizen.

Alto will be one of some 28 wineries participating in the show, presented by the Stellenbosch Cabernet Collective at the Lanzerac Hotel and Spa. It includes two tutored events and a walk-around tasting of the region’s 2017 Vintage Cabernet Sauvignons, a variety that has shown itself eminently suited to Stellenbosch terroir.

An international masterclass will see international participation featuring iconic wines including the 2014 Opus One and 2015 Chateau Pichon Lalande. Just as exceptional will be the Stellenbosch Heritage Tasting, where local Cabernet Sauvignons through the ages will be the focus.

Wines on show at the Cabernet Collective’s 2017 Vintage Preview will be available for purchase at pre-release prices through the retail partner, Wine Cellar. A list of participating restaurants and accommodation specials are available at www.stellenboschcabernet.co.za.

Tickets for the Vintage Preview are available from Computicket.com. The international masterclass costs R1 250 pp and the Stellenbosch Heritage Tasting, R650pp. Both include walk-around tasting access. A ticket to the walk-around event itself is R350 pp.
