With the annual spooky night of the year approaching – where all the ghouls, zombies and vampires come out to play and explore the city – we have a list of Halloween themed events to get you in the spirit of all things scary and bizarre.
Here are seven ways to celebrate Halloween
1.Zombie Walk
Join a group of mindless zombies as they walk through the streets of Cape Town, leaving all those who see them frightened and shaking in their boots. Everyone, including their furry friends, are allowed to join in on the event. Individuals of all ages get together to celebrate the gory by dressing up as zombies.
Zombie walk goers dress all out for the occasion with some looking downright ‘dead’. The walk will leave from the Company gardens from 4pm-6pm.

2.Galileo IT screening
A horror movie night is a perfect way to spend Halloween – the Galileo Open Air Cinema is screening the terrifying ‘IT’ movie featuring the sadistic clown, Pennywise, who taunts a group of young kids. Grab your popcorn and lie under the stars for the night time movie show at the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
There is a competition for the best dress Halloween costume. The cinema opens at 6pm and artisanal food options will be available – from pizza to cheesy nachos offering the perfect movie food.

3.After Dark Invasion – Zombie edition
Prepare for a unique mud obstacle course of 1km or 6km at the After Dark Invasion at the Dvine Estate expo and events in Paarl. Run around in the mud as you climb, crawl and jumpy your way through.
The course is an army boot like experience with ‘zombies’ scattered across the course to scare you. The event will test your strength and your endurance. It is a real night time challenge with a twist of brain thirsty zombies chasing after you. Tickets cost R100 – R350 per person and can be purchased on Entry Ninja.
Complete the course or be a zombie for the night.

4. Night of the Bat
Party up a storm at the Village Idiot for their Night of the Bat, a Halloween inspired event. Patrons are encouraged to dress to the theme, donning their most scary attire, those dressed up will receive a cup of witches brew upon arrival.
Zombie brain shots will be available on the night, among other themed drinks. The event starts at 8pm and will run into the late hours of the night, when all the dead come alive. Prizes will be on offer for the best dressed of the evening.

5.So Happy Halloween
Join the creepy and crawly creatures of the night as you head to the So Happy Halloween event being held at Harrington Street. Nightmares, ghouls and all things freaky will be roaming the streets of Harrington, spreading their guts and gore.
A freak show market will be available at the event along with live scary and twisted performers. A live DJ performance will be available to dance to classic hits such as ‘Thriller’ and awaken the spirits of the dark side.
The whole event will be decked out with ‘slaughter house’ themed rooms and more. Tickets can be purchased at Howler and cost R150 – R250.

6.Pick your poison Halloween Party
Head to the Drifter Brewing Company in Woodstock for a night of witchery and all things Halloween. It will be an evening of spooky brews while you dance to the music. In order to cool down from the heat, natural popsicles will be available at the event. Patrons are encouraged to dress up to the theme.
Entrance cost R50 at the door.
