After what was declared a successful ANC birthday celebration at Cape Town Stadium, including groups of minstrels joining the festivities and tongue-in-cheek talk of planes flying over the party with messages, proceedings were generally smooth in the city over the weekend.
Just when you thought that Cape Town mall robberies were so 2014, a jewellery store in Blue Route was hit by between seven and nine men on Saturday. Having used hammers to smash open the store’s display cabinets, the men took off with jewellery worth an undisclosed amount. Read more about that here.
On the cricket front, the West Indies gave us some serious food for thought as Chris Gayle once again made light work of our bowlers.
If you’re travelling up the N2 please take care. A motorist was critically injured last week while driving on the N2, near the R300 turnoff. The City of Cape Town has increased highway patrols to help prevent any further incidents. Read more about that here.
