Focusing on the tough issues of addiction, substance abuse and mental health, this week-long event will be showcasing films from around the world. The festival’s frame is recovery, and the message is: we do recover, every day!
Film has a unique ability to document the struggles facing individuals and communities troubled by addiction and other mental health issues, and to capture the hope and joy of recovery in a wide variety of stories. The organisers hope this year’s expanded line-up of films will inspire, move, agitate, inform and above all entertain those in recovery, their families and friends, and professionals working in the fields of addiction and mental health, to get beyond the stigma and stereotypes concerning addiction – and to gain an understanding of what it means to recover.
