CELEBRATE WOMEN POWER AT DIVAS UNITE

Female empowerment has become a dominant theme in the entertainment industry, celebrating femininity, individuality and strength. Female singers are using the message of song to enfranchise women, young and old, all over the world. Who says that music can’t be used as a tool of liberation?

Beyoncé’s ‘Formation’, Christina Aguilera’s ‘Can’t Hold Us Down’ and Hailee Steinfeld’s ‘Love Myself’ have become power anthems, but these international sensations are not the only ones striving for gender equality.

These and many other female singers have long been using songs to send strong messages to uplift women in more aspects than one, positive body image and mindset among them.

Local artists are doing the same as they fight for equality and bring awareness to issues that affect South African women directly with an all-girl concert.

Celebrate Women’s Day at the Divas Unite concert at GrandWest. Some of the best South African female vocalists and performers will be on stage, uniting for an important day in South Africa.

Divas Unite will consist of performances of various genres, from gospel to pop. An all-female lineup of the Cape Town Philharmonic Choir will be accompanying the singers for a stellar experience.

The line-up includes  SAMA-nominated female trio Blackbyrd, The Voice South Africa contestant Thembeka Mnguni, violinist Donné de Kock and many more stars of music and stage. The host for the evening will be award-winning presenter Katlego Maboe.

Divas Unite has been asked to partner with the NGO ‘Partners for Possibility’ (www.pfp4sa.org) to make partnerships between school principals and business leaders possible. Divas Unite needs an investment of R6 250 to host 25 more teachers and 20% of the amount will be given to Partners for Possibility to grow their work in the education process.
