The City of Cape Town has warned beachgoers that the presence of Great White sharks along the False Bay coastline has increased. There have been 57 Great Whites spotted around our coast since September and the monthly average for December has increased significantly. Although this is nothing new, extra caution should be taken when dipping into those warm False Bay waters. Remember that the ocean is a wild place and that swimming in an unprotected area is not unlike venturing into an unprotected area in the Kruger Park.
Yesterday’s big news in Cape Town was that access to the Atlantic Seaboard areas such as Sea Point and Clifton will be limited from 26 December – 1 January, which had a lot of tongues wagging. Reaching these areas by public transport has been encouraged by the City of Cape Town during this period and parking for private vehicles is recommended in the CBD and Foreshore. I only wish that they will pay the transport costs and parking fees. You can read more about that here.
Have a great Tuesday!
Cheers
Justin
