The Fugard, District Six

La Traviata is thought of as one of Giuseppe Verdi’s best operas, and Richard Eyre’s staging, as one the most popular productions of The Royal Opera. The opera follows the story of the Parisian courtesan, Violetta Valery, based on the courtesan, Marie Duplessis. In her debut with The Royal Opera, Russian soprano Venera Gimadieva sings the role of  Violetta in Italian language.

Conducted by Yves Abel and directed by Richard Eyre.

The screening forms part of the 2015 & 2016 Fugard Bioscope World Arts Season. The Fugard presents screenings in full digital high-definition with surround sound.
