Tuesday 7 June 8 pm
The Fugard, District Six
The multi award winning play A Voice I Cannot Silence comes to the Fugard Theatre. The play commemorates Alan Paton, author of Cry, The Beloved Country and explores the man through (mostly) his own words via novels, verse, letters and memoirs he left behind.
The play reveals a complex man who was haunted by the injustices of South African society as much as by the complexities of his own nature and whose entire existence and work was dedicated to equality, alleviation of human suffering, and to what he called ‘the grand theories of freedom and responsibility.’
