Saturday 30 May and Sunday 31 May at 10 am
Delheim Wine Estate, Stellenbosch
Doesn’t the notion of foraging for fresh, wild fungi seem rather enthralling? Instead of traipsing your way down to the local grocery store in search of clinical-looking mushrooms, why not join the Delheim team in an exclusive search for this seasonal delicacy.
Join field expert and mushroom cultivator Nora Sperling-Thiel and Gary Goldman on an interactive tour in the idyllic Delheim forest. Not only will your gathering abilities be put to the test in a ‘silent hunt’ to unearth edible forest fare, but you will also be taught the forsaken art of foraging.
For the cautious-minded, a lecture will provide amateur foragers insight on identification, which will leave you being able to discern between an edible mushroom from a funky one (read deadly poisonous).
What’s more, foragers who’ve worked up an appetite can enjoy a mushroom-inspired three-course meal at Delheim’s Historic Vat cellar.
