Come rain or shine, we are spoiled for choice in the Mother City. Despite the cooler weather, falling leaves and occasional “intense cold front” warnings, there are plenty of fun activities to get up to in Cape Town. Don’t believe us? Here are the five best activities in Cape Town:

Visit the Scratch Patch:

If you’re looking for a fun indoor activity to do with your friends or kiddies, then the Scratch Patch and Mineral World outlet at the V&A Waterfront is a great option. Nearly half of the world’s gemstones are found in South Africa, and there’s a wide assortment of semi-precious stones for patrons to choose from at the Scratch Patch. Not only is it a fun day out, but it’s a great investment for anyone looking to create their own unique jewellery or have a fun-filled day

Spend a day cooking:

From the aromatic smells of Cape Malay cooking to the sweet-scented smells of chocolate fondant, there are plenty of awesome cooking classes in Cape Town. Head to the V&A Waterfront and spend a day baking up a storm with the world-famous chocolatiers, Lindt. If you’re looking for something a bit more filling, try the Bo-Kaap Cooking tour for a day of delicious Cape Malay dishes.

Go for a Hike at Jonkershoek Nature Reserve:

Located just outside Stellenbosch, this gorgeous nature reserve has a range of waterfalls for you to explore. The Autumn rain only enhances the beauty of the lush valleys making it a must during the cooler months. There are three waterfalls to hike to, each with its own unique beauty and expert level. If you’re a beginner, stick to the first waterfall.

Visit an art gallery

If you prefer indulging your creative side while staying indoors, the Zietz art gallery deserves a visit. Located at the V&A Waterfront, this gallery is a masterpiece of contemporary African art. The Zietz has plenty of incredible exhibitions from young African artists that are sure to blow your mind. Spend the day strolling this space as you get familiar with the Zietz.

Picnic at the Company Gardens

The Company Gardens is an intuition in Cape Town and the perfect spot for an almost-winter picnic spot. The best part is that it’s free! So, grab your picnic basket, blanket and jacket and spend the day in this lush garden.
