With the country now in Level 1, Capetonians have a little more freedom to be out and about. Remember to always wear a mask and follow the relevant protocols to keep safe while enjoying the Mother City.

We take a look at five fun things to do while adhering to safety protocols and social distancing.

1. The drive-in theatre:

The Galileo Open Air Cinema is a cool way to enjoy some good movies while sitting in your vehicle under the beautiful night sky and being safe.

The cinema is located at 346B Victoria Road Salt River.

2. Go-kart racing:

Another fun thing to do is go-kart racing at either Canal Walk called Century Karting or the one in Kenilworth called Kenilworth Karting. Keep in mind to carry a sanitiser bottle with you to use before and after you have driven your laps in the kart.

3. Have a picnic:

For those of us who are major food lovers and adore restaurants, but are wary of meeting indoors, picnics are the answer.

Order in from your favourite restaurant and rather go to a beautiful spot whether it be at Greenpoint park, Seapoint or any of the green spaces in the Cape. Also, try and support local food trucks that you see along the road.

4. Go hiking:

Cape Town boasts so many beautiful mountains and trails including, Table Mountain, Signal Hill, Lions Head and more. Why not take a hike up your favourite trail and breathe in the fresh air and gorgeous scenery and views overlooking the Mother City.

5. Go for a sunset coastal drive:

Our city offers us many different beautiful coastal views. Plan a drive or road trip for the day. Include routes such as Chapman’s Peak, Victoria Road behind Table Mountain, and Boyes Drive. The list goes on and the choice is yours!
