Cape Town is blessed to be home to some of the most incredible ocean activity. From whales to sharks to dolphins feeding in masses, we’ve got it all. On Sunday, April 18, Cape {town} Etc’s Leigh-Ann Londt took a drive out to Gordon’s Bay where she encountered a little sea life magic of her own.

“The drive became long and we decided to pull over along the way to stretch our legs.” Sometimes, timing is just on point.

“As myself and my better half relaxed at one of the spots near a mountain pass, all of a sudden, cars just started pulling over. People were jumping out of their vehicles in a rush, phones out, a whole commotion and we couldn’t understand why as our backs were turned to the water.”

“As we turned to look, we spotted a huge pod of dolphins. What a moment of pure bliss for me, as I have never in my life seen a group of dolphins swimming together, and close to where were sitting.”

“The playful species were jumping all over the show, diving for fish and sometimes, just showing off for us (I think, anyway).”

“With the heartbreak of the Table Mountain fire heavy on our minds, the sighting was welcomed with extra gratitude and emotion.”
