“Cape Town is ready to welcome Miss Universe this Friday in a fitting display of colour and dance, courtesy of the Cape Town Carnival,” the City said in an official statement.
Beginning at City Hall and on the Grand Parade, the celebration will move to follow a specific route which ends in Hertzog Boulevard.
Yesterday, Tunzi completed her Johannesburg route and seemed excited to be making her way to Cape Town next.

Executive Mayor, Dan Plato, said, “I would like to encourage Capetonians to come out in their numbers in the streets of the CBD to give our Miss Universe a proper Mother City welcome. We hope Zozi’s accomplishment will motivate others, particularly young women, to aspire to great heights and take the South African success story to the rest of the world. On behalf of the City of Cape Town, I wish our Miss Universe well in her work and may her reign continue to be an inspiration to all the world over.”
It seems that spirits were high in the CBD as the parade began.

Tunzi told EWN that she plans to focus on assisting women and young people as soon as the festivities are over.
“I’m very passionate about women, their empowerment and young children and education. So for me, I can’t wait to actually get into those communities and be involved with the youth and hear what their problems are and see where I can help, ” she said.
