Cape Town’s hiking and fitness enthusiasts can prepare to access more trails, as CapeNature announced a new list of reserves that are open to the public. Some of the phased-in trail openings include the Palmiet Trail and Buffalo Bay Trail.
On June 10, the organisation informed nature-lovers that it is phasing the re-opening of its reserves across the Western Cape.
“Staff are working diligently to ensure that the respective reserves are compliant and ready to welcome visitors to our reserves. All regulations relating to social distancing, health protocols, movement and the prohibition of groups and gatherings will apply accordingly,” said Sheraaz Ismail, acting CapeNature Chief Executive Officer.
CapeNature has included limited trails, and hikers are advised to remember that same day bookings must be made before 10am on that day. Only future bookings can be made after 10am.
Visitors are also encouraged to do the following when in CapeNature parks:
– Wear a face mask
– Disinfection of hands with sanitiser provided
– Scanning of body temperature. This will be unobtrusive with high regard for personal space and comfort
– Recording of visitor information as part of the Visitor Access Registration
The list of newly opened parks can be found here.
