Tintswalo Atlantic had an unusual visitor over the weekend. A small caracal wondered onto the grounds and had a look around before scampering off.

The Tintswalo Safari lodge is no stranger to animal sightings with a number of wild animals seen daily, including wild dogs, buck, lions, zebras and hyenas, but it is rare for the Atlantic Hotel to be visited by such a shy creature.

The little lynx was spotted in the garden area, investigating the pathways and stopping over at various bushes along the way to give them an extra look.

The adorable visitor was a rather small caracal but proved to be very photogenic.

Caracal spotting are becoming more frequent during the lockdown as the wild cats feel safer wandering closer to buildings and gardens due to the lack of human activity.
