KWV has been making huge strides in the South African – and global – wine industry since it was founded in 1918. The iconic brands latest advancement follows along the lines of great story telling. Now, who doesn’t love a great story shared over an even greater glass of wine? The brand is impressing wine enthusiasts with the introduction of their incredibly cool augmented reality wine labels.
Cathedral Cellar is a premium wine portfolio by KWV and includes the Cathedral Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon, Cathedral Cellar Shiraz, Cathedral Cellar Triptych (a red blend), Cathedral Cellar Chardonnay and Cathedral Cellar Sauvignon Blanc. The new labels depict the Cathedral Cellar with beautiful copper line drawings.
Trust us, augmented reality is way more fun than it sounds. This innovative technology has been created with the purpose of enticing wine enthusiasts with an impressive unfolding of ‘live stories’. Are you ready to take a leap into the future with Cathedral Cellar?
This relatively new technology makes navigating the complex world of wine fascinating, engaging, and easy. Using a simple point-and-scan action on a mobile phone, consumers can peel back the layered stories of wine waiting to be discovered behind the label.
Cathedral Cellar isn’t only pouring up divine wine, but they are also transforming the way we experience it.
It’s all about the experience, epitomising storytelling: the brand home, the impressive cellar, 32 barrels which measure approximately three meters in circumference. Rich storytelling and history catapulted into the present moment thanks to modern technology.
How it works:
Using a mobile phone, users scan the Cathedral Cellar’s new labels using the dedicated LABELinmotion app, and eureka, stories and people who inspired each of the wines comes to life right before your eyes, along with engaging animations.
“We are incredibly excited to bring wine consumers an interesting way to engage with Cathedral Cellar, a brand which really reflects so many beautiful elements. The cellar is a visual marvel and the winemaker is someone you would want at your dinner table. These things are difficult to capture with just a back label, but with virtual reality, people get to step into the cellar and subsequently meet Wim. It is a remarkable way to enhance the wine drinker’s journey,” says brand Manager for Cathedral Cellar, Tanya Blokdyk.
