As we head into the festive season, The Street Store will offer Cape locals the chance to make a big difference in the lives of those who have little by donating to their street store for the homeless.
On December 10, a pop-up street store offering free clothing and goods to the homeless will open in Bellville and residents are being encouraged to give their old clothes that are still in good condition.
The Street Store is an initiative that encourages locals to take to the streets and give the things they don’t need or want to people in need. Clothing hangers made out of posters hang along a fence on a dedicated street and encourage locals to hang or donate something they don’t want.
Since it first began in 2014, The Street Store has arranged hundreds of free street clothing stores around the world, changing the lives of many and empowering countless others to make a difference.
There will be nine collection points in Cape Town available for locals to deliver their donations to. All clothing items donated are washed and ironed before they are hung for homeless people to browse and choose. Donations have been extended until December 4 so locals are encouraged to do their part soon.
