There’s a new kid on the Church Square block, in the heart of Cape Town’s CBD, and it comes packing with wholesome conscious freshness.

Exactly a year after she first opened her concept restaurant, Pilcrow & Cleaver, with its weekly changing menus and team of chefs – Chef Judi introduced Fideli’s, her newest food chapter right next door to Pilcrow & Cleaver on December 13.

Chef Judi has launched Fidelis in Parliament Street

Operating as a beer garden, deli and an inner-city grocer, Fideli’s is community-driven with its promise to the customer rooted within the Latin definition of its name to always be loyal to the ingredients. With no imported products and only locally sourced ingredients, the shelves are stocked with honesty and inspiration.

“Export might have been an exotic concept, imports trend on Instagram but living off the land means sticking close to Mother Nature,” Chef Judi shares.

Fideli’s own product range includes home-made sauces, jams, yoghurt, preserves, spices, hand-made pasta, ready-to-go meals and baked goods. Many of which are firm favourites in Pilcrow & Cleaver’s dishes such as the Eggs Benedict’s hollandaise and the P&C Burger’s tomato jam.

And when you peek over at the cold section, there is a variety of fruit and vegetables, local cheeses, grass-fed beef, lamb, and green-listed seafood available from sustainable reputable suppliers – all stating the origin of the product, from Epping to Polokwane.

Chef Judi, recently awarded as a WWF-SASSI Trailblazer, is passionate about sustainability.

“I want people to connect with their food again, to know where it comes from and to understand the importance and the impact at large of using locally sourced ingredients in their day-to-day cooking at home,” she says, “customers can also choose, cut and mix their own herbs, grown right here at Fideli’s.”

Apart from the at-home-cooking shopping experience, the space of the beer garden invitingly welcomes you to an inner-city escape with its greenery, extensive wine list of rare finds (also available for sale), breakfast, and lunch and dinner menu. And to make the experience even more unique, you can choose your own steak cut or ABALOBI fish fillet and the chef will prepare it for you with your choice of sides, sauces and dressing.

“We can’t wait for you to experience the ‘new green’. This is not a trend, this is reality.”

Fideli’s is can be found at 3.1 PIAZZA, Parliament Street and operates 7 days a week, from 7am to 10pm.
