Address Unknown, a short film by Nadine Cloete, recently won the Audience Choice Award at the 2020 Durban International Film Festival (DIFF), which took place virtually between September 10 and 20.
The film was written by anti-Apartheid activist Anton Fisher, and follows a postman named Joey and his childhood friend Ebie as they are forced from their District Six homes. He is left reeling when he can no longer deliver letters to his friends and neighbours from the area as they are forcibly removed and dumped on the Cape Flats without any forwarding addresses.
This spurns Joey on a journey set against the backdrop of the 1976 protests as he tries to reconnect with his friend.
The film was also showcased at the BlackStar Film Festival in Philadelphia in the US.
