Capetonians aren’t happy unless they can be outdoors enjoying the best of the Mother City. Our beautiful mountains and hiking trails and scenic wine farms often get a lot of love for good reason. Another amazing location designed for thrill-seekers is Battery Park.

Battery Park is an urban park that forms the gateway to the V&A Waterfront and integrates Cape Town’s CBD and the V&A Waterfront through a series of pedestrian routes, including one alongside the canal.

Visitors can partake in a wide variety of outdoor recreational activities and entertainment. Here are a few of our favourites:

Bring your skateboard or scooter and enjoy a combination of various elements including a bowl with spine and pump hump, quarter pipes, layback bank, gaps, a small plaza with hubba’s and rails, a frame set and a long ledge and rail.

This skate park was designed by California Skateparks in the USA with local input from local talent Marc Baker at CA Skateparks Africa, and features world-class skate park standards.

Hoops, hoops, hoops:

Enjoy basketball or mini soccer games at the multi-court. There are adjustable hoops, which makes it accessible for younger players too.

A range of watersport activities is available at Battery Park, from stand-up paddling and SUP-ing to kayaking and swimming. You can even enjoy a water taxi ride that will transport you between the Cape Town International Convention Centre and the V&A Waterfront.

Family fun

Battery Park offers fun for the whole family, head to the play park and let your little ones run loose on the swings, rocking horses and scooter path. Afterwards, you can enjoy a picnic with a view of Table Mountain.
