#HighburyHearsYou – At Cape Town Etc, we are passionate about getting local restaurants back and booming in business. As part of our #HighburyHearsYou initiative, we’re dishing out the deets on some incredible restaurants in and around town.

In England 1762, the 4th Earl of Sandwich gave birth to an idea so brilliant that it rocked the world for decades after, spawning an array of bread-a-licious creations that have catapulted the humble sandwich to the granddaddy of all lunch meals. Keep in mind that this is not the last time you’ll be hearing the words grand daddy and sandwich in the same sentence.

The Grand Daddy Hotel has become an icon amongst Cape Town locals. It’s a place where you can go and enjoy the city’s skyline while lounging in luxury and comfort. But epic airstream trailers and a rooftop cinema in the heart of the city were simply not enough for this iconic hotel. The Grand Daddy Hotel has recently welcomed a new delectable addition – Trailer 38 Sandwich Cafe.

Located on the ground floor of the hotel, the latest addition to Cape Town’s gastronomy scene offers mouth-watering on-the-go gourmet sandwiches that will tickle your taste buds and put you on a culinary rocket, ensuring that you satisfy that “lunchtime hanger” we’ve all experienced.

They have a range of sandwiches to choose from, including an “eggcellent sandwich” for those days you’re looking for something simple, but with a splash of elegance (hello truffle mayo!) Craving something a bit meatier? Trailer 38’s Roast Beef with honey and mustard dip will satisfy any meat craving, and quell that hangry feeling too.

Pair your sandwich with one of their many drinks. Perhaps a strong Americano for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up or choose from a selection of one of their craft beers for a later afternoon with your pals. Their prices are reasonable too, with prices starting at R45 for a sandwich that’s out of this world!
