There can be no doubt that Capetonians have certain signature interests, from an unfaltering love for gin, to a deep desire to constantly take to the mountains, to a fondness for complaining about the weather.
A recently tweeted picture taken in the isles of Pick n Pay Montclare is proof of Cape Town’s strong gin-drinking culture and implies that gin is the most Capetonian product ever.
The picture on Twitter shows limes, grapefruits and lemons from the fresh produce section in the Pick n Pay labelled as “citrus for gin” – a label that could only ever have been made in the Mother City.

This new label is expected to appear in more Pick n Pay stores soon where collections of citrus fruit will be packaged together specifically for gin use.
Needless to say, this new offering has sparked a lot of talk among locals with some saying, “who else is citrus used for if not gin?”.
