Famed Mother City cinema, The Labia will soon reopen its doors to the public. The theatre will start operating again from Friday, August 21 with a host of new social distancing measures in place to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Following the newly gazetted regulations that cinemas may operate with a limitation of 50 persons or less per cinema, the Labia has made the decision to open their doors to the public once again.

In a social media post, they write: “We’re delighted to welcome you back to the Labia Theatre & Garden Terrace with (socially distanced) open arms on Friday, 21 August.

“We take the health and safety of our patrons and our staff very seriously. Rest assured we are fully compliant with government guidelines and have put numerous safety measures in place so that you can relax and enjoy the Big Screen experience, safe in the knowledge that we have everything covered.”

The new safety measures will include:

– Tickets must be booked online through Webtickets or at Pick n Pay stores to reduce queuing at the box office and ensure seats will be available

– All visitors will be screened and have their temperatures taken. Any patron or staff member with an elevated temperature will be refused entry

– Masks are mandatory, except when eating or drinking

– Physical distancing floor markers have been placed where required. No gathering in the foyer is allowed, rather wait on the Terrace until it is time to take your seat

– Movie start times have been staggered to reduce the number of people arriving and leaving at any one time

– Hand-sanitiser is readily available, staff are equipped with PPE and counters have protective screens

– The cinemas and public spaces will be regularly deep-cleaned with sanitising spray and staff will continuously clean high-contact surfaces

– The number of available seats have been reduced so that you can sit with a safe distance between you and other patrons. Empty seats will be on either side of you or your group (whether it’s one patron, or two or more sitting together) and empty seats in front and behind you

Their latest film programme includes movies like comedy drama Misbehaviour, sci-fi thriller The Invisible Man, comedy drama The King of Staten Island and historial musical drama The Song of Names, among others.
