This year’s Festive Lights Switch-On event will take place on Sunday, December 1 on the Grand Parade and is sure to bring locals a fun-filled evening of festive cheer and superb performances.
The theme this year is “Cape Town: Window to the World,” and the lineup includes a range of artists appealing to both young and old.
The free open-air event marks the start of summer as well as the 50 year anniversary of this much-loved festive event. Residents can look forward to performances such as the Ndlovu Youth Choir, Sho Madjozi and YoungstaCPT.
‘The switching on of the festive lights is something all of Cape Town looks forward to as it signals the start of the festive season. This year’s theme focuses on diversity, which is what Cape Town reflects and different communities across the city are expected to be part of this celebration of togetherness and sharing. We look forward to a wonderful evening of music and welcoming the spirit of the season,’ said Executive Mayor Dan Plato.
All genres will be featured for the evening’s entertainment and as one of the biggest events of its kind in Cape Town, it is expected to attract locals and visitors alike.
Aside from the stage entertainment, attendees can also look forward to the moment when the festive lights switch on for the year as well as the legendary video mapping displays.
