Nestled at the foot of the magnificent Paarl Rock is a unique, luxurious boutique hotel with an impressive history. An establishment where the atmosphere of a bygone era brings a sense of gracious, unhurried living.
The Grande Roche Hotel is a celebrated historical monument turned 5-star hotel boasting beautiful gardens, a modern gym, a treatment room for by-appointment-only spa treatments and innovative dining in the Manor House of the estate.
Its unique positioning on the Cape Wine Route of South Africa makes Grande Roche Hotel the ideal base from which to explore the Western Cape province, play a round of golf at internationally acclaimed golf courses and experience some of the world’s most impressive and celebrated wines on neighbouring wine farms and estates. With easy access to adventurous, exclusive and wonderful places, Grande Roche Hotel guests are some of the few in the region who truly experience South Africa from an incomparable perspective.
A fresh start
In June 2019 Grande Roche Hotel returned to local hands when Paarl-based entrepreneurs, Hansie and Theresa Britz, acquired the historical establishment. With its iconic positioning below the Afrikaanse Taal Monument in Paarl and boasting exquisite views, it made sense to breathe new life into the hotel while maintaining the old world charm it has become so renowned for. It’s little wonder that Grande Roche Hotel is fast becoming the preferred choice for local and international travellers to rest their heads.
Refreshed suites
The 31 suites have been carefully redecorated and upgraded to evoke the luxurious, tranquil and comfortable experience Grande Roche Hotel has to offer. With refurbished amenities and reimagined landscapes, Grande Roche Hotel aims to give each guest the elegant and relaxing experience they deserve. There are four different suite types ranging from private Terrace Suites, accessible Legacy Rooms, family-friendly Heritage Suites to an exclusive Garden Suite perfect for honeymoons, anniversaries or romantic getaways. The different suites afford Grande Roche Hotel the rare opportunity to accommodate for guests wishing to stay at the historical establishment.
Viande restaurant
Spearheaded by esteemed chef, Pete Goffe-Wood of MasterChef South Africa fame, the all-new, on-site restaurant occupies the famous Grande Roche Manor House that sits on the property. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Viande is an innovative nose-to-tail establishment, paying special attention to locally sourced, seasonal and sustainable produce.
To bring the experience full-circle, all guests, whether hotel or walk-in, are welcome to enjoy novel cocktails in the new bar, granting further access to the Grande Roche Hotel’s distinctive qualities that have drawn so many visitors in the past.
