The Western Cape had no shortage of snowy scenes this past weekend and more is expected this week. Unfortunately, popular snow destination Matroosberg Reserve says they cannot accept visitors for hiking or mountain activities as there is an intense storm currently underway.
According to the reserve, their 4×4 trail will not open to the public while the storm in the area continues to rage. They are experiencing flooding and strong winds with cold temperatures. No hikers will be able to visit at this time and Matroosberg will keep the public informed on their Facebook page.
Locals are reminded that the internet connections and telephone lines in the area will most likely not be working during the storm.
Over the weekend, Storm Report SA shared their snow-bound adventures as they headed into the mountains between Barkly East and Elliot to hunt for snow.
