The Community in Fish Hoek is coming together to raise awareness for the environment and empower local businesses to be more eco-friendly with their brand new eco market concept.
Local NPO Angel Resource Centres are working with Revamp The Valley to host a monthly event that will promote local circular economy entrepreneurs, first taking place from March 7 to 8 2020.
Angel Resource Centres have been involved in uplifting and building entrepreneurs in rural areas across the country since 2010.
Their local micro-incubator social franchise, eZone, nurtures tourism professionals at the Fish Hoek Tourism Info desk, managed by Get South!, and CoffeeZone is the home of Kudzai Coffee Company, who are dedicated to training professional baristas to make the perfect cup of coffee, learn customer service, and develop life skills.
For the last three years, Revamp The Valley has been focused on improving public spaces through community-led projects.
The new market will be called EcoHoek and focus solely on recycled and upcycled products with environmental awareness in mind, with the first day kicking off on Saturday, March 7 from 8.30am to 2pm at Fish Hoek eZone, 81A Main Road.
Market-goers can look forward to items on sale that are handmade, grown or manufactured in the Cape Peninsula. All products will meet standards of recycling, up-cyling, repairing as well as eco-friendly practices.
Nothing sold by formal business will feature or anything made outside of the City of Cape Town or the Cape.
