The annual Cape Town Marathon is coming back around this Sunday, 17 September 2017, and the anticipation of the sports event has the city buzzing. With entries closed and road closures announced, there are only a few more things you need to prepare for ahead of race-day in order to ensure you enjoy it to its maximum potential.
1 Tune into SABC 2
The Cape Town Marathon will be broadcasted on SABC 2 on Sunday, so set your reminders, get your snacks ready and your couch comfy-fied for a day of race-packed action.
2 Carbo-load the night before
Carbo-loading is a method most runners use in order to avoid hitting the wall mid-race, but you don’t need to actually be running the race for an excuse to load up on the fettuccine. Here’s a few places with the tastiest carbs around town.
Eastern Food Bazaar in Long Market Street
Arguably Cape Town’s favourite spot for regional Indian, Chinese and Turkish street food, the Eastern Food Bazaar offers an amazing range of carby dishes like chicken fried rice, lamb shawarma, roti, naan, vegetable hakka noodles and more.
Snoekies in Sea Point
Fish and tjips at another Cape Town favourite is a sure way to get those carbs (and loads of vinegar) into your system. If you’re not the fish and chips type, try their calamari wrap or a bread roll side to get those carbohydrates in.
Ferdinando’s Pizza in Observatory
Handmade, homemade, authentic Italian pizza (plus a really cute canine mascot), Ferdinando’s offers an awesome range of crazy and classic pizzas that are guaranteed to hit that carb-craving.
3 Support the action live at designated spectator zones
The Cape Town Marathon has set up designated spectator and supporter zones for friends, family and fans on the day. These are few spots you can catch the race action live.
