There’s no question that Cape Town (and South Africa) has some incredible people who are always willing to help where they can. Case in point, many have rallied around an adorable three-year-old little girl named Elle.

According to the fundraising page set up by her parents, Ryan and Abigail, Elle was born with a “bilateral, moderate to severe hearing loss.” She was initially fitted with hearing aids, but over the years, testing has revealed that her hearing has slowly deteriorated.

“Although hearing aids have helped, she has missed out on a lot of speech sounds resulting in the poor pronunciation of words. The cochlear implants will not only restore our daughter’s hearing but will improve her speech resulting in improved communication and a better quality of life.”

Doctors have suggested a device and surgery that could make a huge difference to Elle’s hearing and quality of life. Unfortunately, this life-changing device will cost R300 000. While her parents are willing to cover the costs of Elle’s surgery, they have implored kind-hearted individuals to aid in the expense of the device.

“We are appealing to you to help us give our daughter the best quality of life we possibly can. Your donation will make a huge difference in achieving the best for Elle.”

So far, a number of good samaritans have come to the rescue, raising more than R62 000 for Elle’s new hearing device. If you’d love to help,  click here to give Elle the gift of hearing.
