#HighburyHearsYou – we at Cape Town Etc are passionate about getting local restaurants back and booming in business. As part of our #HighburyHearsYou initiative, we’re dishing out the deets on some incredible restaurants in and around town.
InFusion on Long Street opened its doors on April 1 2021 and has been offering guests a taste of the high life ever since. We were fortunate to pay this unique eatery a visit. Needless to say, our munchies were catered for and we left feeling extra full and extra zen, writes Cape {Town} Etc’s Leigh-Ann Londt.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed by Gavin and Christelle, who took us through all the COVID-19 safety protocols, of course.
If you’re in the mood for food infused with flavour, this is the place to be. CBD is threaded into almost everything on offer, ensuring all guests get their daily dose of relaxation.
Green signals go. Go slow in this case. Glowing green lights, accompanied cannabis-inspired decor set the tone for a relaxed, light-hearted evening filled with all things cannabis, and all things delicious.
I was offered a seating place downstairs, but when I was told that the upstairs area was available, there was no way at all that I was going to turn that down. Why stay low when you can get high?
Bob Marley tunes hummed in the background as gorgeous cocktails arrived. I was treated to a Berry Blaze cocktail and Chilli Martini (featuring fresh chilli and chilli flakes). Oh so amazing and refreshing. The night was off to a solid start.
To begin, I ordered one dish from the tapas menu as well as one starter. Tapas included a Black Widow Squid dish, half fried and half grilled. The fried portion is dusted in a hemp seed flour and the dish is paired with a CBD-infused black squid ink mayo. Mouth watering!
Next was the starter: a hand-rolled corn tortilla which stuffed with succulent beef and a CBD grilled red pepper chutney. The dish is accompanied by silky guacamole with CBD infused oil. Authenticity at its finest.
For mains: a house-smoked rack of beef ribs cooked in a dark and sticky CBD barbecue sauce. Served alongside some of the most tender ribs I’ve ever eaten were crispy onion rings and scrumptious chips.
That’s not all. I also had the privilege of trying the hearty cheese CBD burger. Did I mention that the roll is green? So cool!
For dessert: a delightful OG lemon meringue and an Exodus upside down cheesecake. Yes, I could have rolled home (feeling full and happy as a clam).
If you would like a takeaway, all packaging is recyclable and eco-friendly.
Overall, Chef Preston knocked it out of the park, Sesethu’s service was simply spectacular, and Gavin and Christelle were fabulous hosts.
