#HighburyHearsYou – we at Cape Town Etc are passionate about getting local restaurants back and booming in business. As part of our #HighburyHearsYou initiative, we’re dishing out the deets on some incredible restaurants in and around town.

There’s nothing that I love more than food. It’s not only about tickling your tastebuds but I love the experience of sharing in laughter and good conversation with friends or family. There are so many incredible places that hold good memories for me and appetizing meals, but if I had to choose, here are a few of my favourites.

Favourite breakfast spot: Mulberry and Prince, Cape Town

I love eating breakfast but I also love sleeping late, therefore, brunch is my favourite meal of the day. This chic restaurant in Cape Town’s CBD serves the best waffle and chicken. I’m also obsessed with their french toast with Nutella.

Favourite lunch spot: Ons Huisie, Blouberg

This little seaside spot is right on the beach, so it’s perfect for a late afternoon lunch or early dinner. I’m a sucker for fresh fish, and their fish and chips always hits my fish craving spot. They also have a homey atmosphere – which I love –  and you can bring your fur-baby along too.

Favourite Dinner spot: Jackson and Black Coalgrill Steakhouse, Tygervalley

I’m always in search of the best beef burgers in town, and Jackson and Black’s free-range Angus beef burger is on my top 10 list. The atmosphere is great for an evening out with friends or a significant other and prices are affordable for the quality you’re receiving.

Favourite sweet spot: Pajamas and Jam, Strand

This serves as a great breakfast spot too, but their fresh cakes and delicious pastries will have you drooling. The space is super artsy with portraits and sculptures scattered throughout. It’s also very close to Strand beach, so you can walk off the sugar.

Favourite drinking spot: Speakeasy, Durbanville

If you’re from the Northern Suburbs, then you’ve most likely spent a roaring night at Speakeasy in Durbanville. The vibe is infectious and they serve a range of drinks, including a mindblowing Pina Colada.

The great escape: Boesmanland Plaaskombuis, Langebaan

Boesmanland is an informal outdoor restaurant located along the beach. It’s the perfect destination for an afternoon drive along the West Coast, and their food is out of this world. The best part? They offer a buffet for around R200, which includes everything from fish potjie to roast beef ribs.
