#HighburyHearsYou – we at Cape Town Etc are passionate about getting local restaurants back and booming in business. As part of our #HighburyHearsYou initiative, we’re dishing out the deets on some incredible restaurants and bars in and around town.

From seaside seating to rooftop wonders, we’ve got some ideas when it comes to Saturday night sundowners. Here are a few of our favourite bars and restaurants that will see you sipping away all day.

Cape To Cuba

Settled right next to the train tracks in the eclectic seaside town of Kalk Bay, a little slice of Cuba waits to welcome those in need of a drink. Dressed up in shades of blue and white, this sandy Havanna-style spot is perfect for laid-back socialising. Cocktails served here are colourful blends of complimentary flavours and pack quite a boozy punch.

Grand Africa Café & Beach

Like its name says, this beach bar is definitely grand. From the sea view to the decor and tasty drinks, the stylish bar serves up the best. Widely regarded as one of the best local spots for sundowners, Grand Africa has regular live music, adding to the upbeat vibe. Party seekers can also get their jol on here – there’s always a soiree happening.

Café Caprice

Palm trees and the Camps Bay breeze are calling to you from the sunlit seats of Café Caprice. Possibly one of the most popular hang-outs in the area, Caprice has a vibe and cocktails to die for. As well as the drinks, the food is a must-try; the nachos are highly recommended for a savoury fix, while the churros are a popular dessert.

Cabrito
The sister establishment to El Burro just upstairs, Cabrito offers patrons an impressive selection of local and imported tequila and mescal – and, of course, margaritas. The cocktail and snack menus echo old favourites from El Burro, but the idea here is a more sedate venue to get your drink on, with occasional live music spots. Try the Don Julio 1942 Tequila Anejo, if you’re feeling flush.

Burger & Lobster

Take your pick of any cocktail on the Burger & Lobster menu between 4 pm and 7 pm each day, because they are all on a two-for-one drink special! The cocktails at this lobster joint were specially created in collaboration with Brent Perremore, who was voted Cape Town’s Top Barman in 2016, and also one of South Africa’s Top Six Barmen 2016.

We recommend that you try the Exotic Marigold – Hendricks Gin dry shaken with grapefruit syrup, smoked chamomile cellulose, grapefruit juice and fresh lime, ice and tonic water – for a taste experience you won’t regret.
