If you’ve driven along Beach Road in Sea Point, you’ll undoubtedly have been starstruck by the glamour and dazzling lights that oozes from Grand Pavilion. Sexy sophistication sitting pretty alongside the ocean, ready to lure you in. We couldn’t resist the temptation, and after a first taste, we’re most certainly hooked.

This gorgeous eatery is versatile in its approach. A stunning chameleon, if you will, ready to change into exactly what you need. Whether it’s a vibe, sushi and cocktails, a lavish seaside lunch or a jazzy date night you’re after, Grand Pavilion has it all and does it well.

Our first date with the Sea Point delight was all about the main menu on the beachfront side of the restaurant in the opulent Grand Dining Hall. Think tasteful and light beach decor, the perfect accompaniment to the sea-salt air which floats through the doors right off the ocean.

The Harry’s Dining Hall, which lives deeper into the venue, invokes a mid-century feel and boasts luxurious interiors with vintage finishes – perfect for an evening razzle.

Chef Desmond Ntombana is passionate about fresh ingredients, supporting local suppliers, and is big on refined flavour. It’s really all about the food at Grand Pavilion. And there truly is something for every palate to enjoy. From untouchable classics to modern fusion-inspired dishes, guests will not leave hungry or disappointed.

At the core of Desmond’s creations lies a stunning coal-based kitchen. Food is returned to flame, fuelled by Namibian sourced wood for the ultimate smokey infusion wherever possible. From starters to dessert, dishes are layered with flavour. Stunning, thoughtful plates prepared to perfection, with heart and soul, to be enjoyed in one of the Mother City’s finest eateries. What more could you ask for?

Love at first bite? Absolutely. We can’t wait to return to Grand Pavilion for a saucy evening experience, or perhaps dabble in the realm of cocktails and sushi. The possibilities are truly, well, grand.
