Our national anthem is a song that unites us all in the spirit of Ubuntu. Originally written as a prayer by the late poet Enoch Sontonga, ‘Nkosi Sikelel’iAfrika’ was named the best national anthem in the world by The Economist in 2017 for its inclusivity and ability to bring people together.

Now, locals are being given the opportunity to share their pride and joy of being South African.

A competition titled the Anthem Project is now being held, where entrants must submit a video showcasing their national pride. Each video will be judged on whether it displays a sense of Ubuntu Spirt and caring for fellow South Africans, creativity and enthusiasm, and whether it sounds like a song that would inspire the nation.

Videos can be submitted here.

The three entrants whose videos are chosen as the best will win a share of R1-million in cash and prizes, which will go towards the charity of their choice.

The prizes are a combination of cash and media exposure on the 24.com network for the charities.

Entries close on April 19 2019 and winners will be announced on May 17 2019.
