As if we needed a day to celebrate the sweetest and most delicious treat on the planet, World Chocolate Day has us grabbing and devouring our favourite chocolate bars. Despite Level 4 putting a bit of a damper on our chocolate-filled dreams, we’ll spend the day eating our Nestle Tex while daydreaming of these epic Cape Town sweet spots.

Here are a few Cape Town spots we’re heading to in our daydreams, or at least once lockdown restrictions ease:

Serendipity Creamery

The word serendipity means “an unplanned fortunate discovery,” and boy, are we fortunate to have discovered this incredible Claremont spot. Their ice-creams and milkshakes are a chocolate-lovers dream, with frozen hot chocolate and rich chocolate fondant making their menu. While there’s no such thing as “too much chocolate,” opt for something simpler with their classic chocolate ice-cream cones.

Kristen’s Kick Ass Ice Cream

You may have to venture all the way to Noordhoek to get a taste of this kick-ass ice-cream, but it’s worth it. This charming, sweet spot offers a range of creamy ice-cream flavours that include chocolate chip cookie dough and dairy0free sugar0free coconut fudge – yum! They also offer a range of ice-cream cakes for those times a traditional chocolate cake just won’t cut it. The best part? They’re currently delivering around Cape Town, so make sure you grab your favourite flavour.

My Sugar

Oh my sugar, we’re in heaven! If sugar and chocolate is your biggest vice, then approach this store with caution. My Sugar offers a range of delicious treats, including tiramisu doughnuts (what!), hand-crafted chocolates, and salty-sweet pretzel barks (delicious!). They are currently offering home deliveries, so make sure you grab your favourite sweatpants and doughnut from My Sugar.

Honest Chocolate Cafe

This wouldn’t be a chocolate list if we didn’t include a cafe that’s dedicated to this sweet treat. Honest Chocolate Cafe has become an institution in Cape Town, offering everything from delectable vegan brownies to a range of handmade organic chocolates. Pure chocolate from ethically sourced raw cacao beans is what makes this small artisanal chocolate spot so amazing. Have no fear, fellow chocolate addicts Honest Chocolate has its online store, which allows you to purchase its scrumptious bars.
