The weather over the past few days has been particularly frosty. South African Weather Service (SAWS) has advised that the rest of the week will carry on being cold and dreary.
Snow is expected to continue falling on mountain passes throughout the Western Cape. Gauteng and the Eastern Cape have received some pre-winter snowfall too. The town of Sutherland in the Northern Cape is also expecting chilly temperatures and some snow.
Today [May 27], Capetonians can expect temperatures ranging between a minimum of 10°C and a maximum of 15°C. While this is particularly crisp, there is no rain predicted.
On Thursday, May 28 rain is expected to fall across the Cape. There is an 80% chance of rain, with 25mm predicted to fall. A cool minimum temperature of 10°C can be expected with the day reaching a maximum 17°C.
More rain is expected on Friday, May 29. According to SAWS, there is a 30% chance of 3mm of rain. Temperatures will range between 11°C and 19°C.
Perhaps the rainfall will boost the Cape’s dam levels. On May 22, the average dam level for the City of Cape Town was at 53.2%.
