After what felt like an extremely long, cold and wet Winter, Capetonians couldn’t wait to welcome in the new season. And boy, did Spring make an entrance! Not only were we treated to a charming bout of beautiful Spring weather but also the great news that as of September, Sea Point’s increasingly-popular seafood restaurant, Sea Grill, is now open on Sundays.

Our first encounter with Sea Grill had us dreamily reminiscing about their dynamite prawns and seafood platter for days on end, so when we caught wind that they are now open for Sunday seafood feasts, we could hardly contain our excitement.

Sea Grill opened its doors just over a year ago but in that short space of time this trendy and trusted restaurant has become renowned for its delicious seafood and value for money. Their menu offers a host of tasty seafood options. To start, look to their tapas menu where you’ll find dishes like Octopus Bravas, Oysters Au Gratin, Tuna Tataki, and Prawn and Saffron Risotto, to name just a few.

On the mains front you’ll find seafood classics like the Linefish of the Day, Sea Grill’s Classic take on Fish & Chips, Black Mussels, Yellowfin Tuna as well as more adventurous options like their Seafood Jambalaya, Grilled Baramundi and Panko-crusted Fish Burger, among others.

Their mains are generous in portion and they’ve also catered to those who are more inclined to the turf rather than the surf, like sirloin or fillet options, as well as vegetarian dishes. Earlier this year they also joined forces with sibling restaurant La Boheme Wine Bar and Bistro in taking their combined offering over the mountain to Claremont in the form of Sea Grill 2nd Avenue.

A fresh plate of seafood.

Sea Grill’s seafood offering is certainly one to write home about, but their specials are an equally impressive catch! If you have a taste for prawns then you simply must try their Sunday Prawn Special which boasts 12 perfectly grilled medium prawns and a side for R120. On Sundays you can also enjoy their fresh Oysters at just R10 and toast to the joys of Spring with bubbly at R40. From Monday to Saturday, take advantage of their two-for-one lunch special on the Sea Grill platter-for-one which boasts a feast of grilled hake, garlic black mussels, prawns, calamari & your choice of handout chips, savoury rice or steamed veggies, or pop in from 4pm to 6pm daily to enjoy their Happy Hour specials.
