The summer season is sneaking up on us and it’s time to hang out with loved ones. Luckily for lovebirds, Cape Town has a myriad of things to do with that special someone. Embrace the sunshine and surprise your significant other with one of these date ideas.
1. Sunset tango dancing
Avid dancers will have a ball with this one. Watch the sun set as you hold your partner in your arms and dance the night away. Take note that this takes place on specific dates, so check their Facebook page for the next event. Refreshments are available for purchase at kiosks in the area but you can also take your own snacks along.

3. Sundowners with a view
What’s better than watching the sunset with that special someone while sipping on cocktails? Blouberg beach is a favourite because of its stellar view and relaxed atmosphere. This western suburb is bustling with restaurants and bars, so the choice is yours. Blue Peter, Ons Huisie and Doodles are all popular among locals.
4. Picnic in the garden
Nothing says ‘romantic date’ better than a picnic. Gardens and parks abound in the Mother City, and summer is the perfect time to ditch the tv-screens and get your tan on. Of course, our pride and joy is Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, but each suburb has green grassy parks that are just as picture-worthy.

Unless of course, you can already surf, in which case a cool date would be to go surfing together in a pretty spot. But if not, and you’re feeling adventurous, splashing and crashing while soaking up some sun will be a blast. Popular surfing areas are Blouberg, Muizenberg and Strand. Son Surf School in Strand is super beginner-firendly.

An all-time favourite that never disappoints, putt-putt is a great affordable and fun activity for couples. This will give you lots of time to chat, and also see each others’ competitive side. Whether you show off your mad skills or end up laughing at being so bad, you’ll have a great time. We love the Momentum Golf Village.
