Over the past few years, our city has had the pleasure of welcoming a diverse range of cruise ships to its shores – two luxury cruise liners graced the Cape Town harbour just last week.

The Mother City is fast becoming the preferred port of call for inbound and outbound international cruise travellers to South Africa, who bring with them various economic opportunities for Cape Town.

Now, two more beautiful ships will soon be arriving at Cape shores, docking in the Cruise Terminal at the V&A Waterfront. Here’s when and where you can see them:

The Ocean Dream or “Peace Boat”

The Ocean Dream, also known as the “Peace Boat”, captivates the essence of a “floating peace village” through learning and action. The ship offers on-board education and an array of public spaces on the vessel have been adapted to serve as lecture halls, classrooms, offices, workshop rooms, and rehearsal venues.

The ship is staffed by 250 professional officers and crew and has a passenger capacity of 1 422. Cabins range from 4-bunk to large suites with decks to allow for a vibrant community experience on-board.

Students from the Global University, International Student and Global English and Espanol Training programmes use the classrooms, and the ballroom and lounges are ideal venues for presentations and large events, functioning both as lecture halls and stage spaces.

Seabourn Sojourn

Seabourn Sojourn enchants her guests with an array of public areas designed and sized to encourage a relaxed sociability. One of the most unusual features of Seabourn Sojourn and her sisters is Seabourn Square, a “living room” that replaces the typical cruise ship lobby with a welcoming lounge filled with easy chairs, sofas and cocktail tables. Knowledgeable concierges discreetly seated at individual desks in an enclave in the centre of the space.

The ship, a 2010 model, belongs to the Seabourn Cruise Line company and is the flagship cruise vessel of the Seabourn fleet. She has a length of 198m and can carry 458 passengers. With two pools, a spa, casino and plenty of entertainment, guests will be kept occupied aboard this luxury liner.

?: @pikturethis2536 The Seabourn Sojourn off Casey’s Beach yesterday afternoon. The luxury cruise ship anchored off Batemans Bay yesterday morning on the first stop of its 36 night itinerary around the Australian Coast and Indonesia. Mayor Liz Innes and our tourism team was at the town wharf to greet around 450 passengers who chose to step ashore. The Seabourn Sojourn’s stop was part of a growing itinerary of cruise ships visiting Batemans Bay thanks to partnership between Our tourism team and the Ports Authority of NSW.??#seabourn #seabourncruise #seabournsojourn #caseysbeach #cruiseship #cruiselife #luxury #cruising #beach #indonesia #australiacoast #love #travel #holiday #christmas #shopping #aerial #dronestagram #dronedaily #eurobodalla #visitnsw #SeeAustralia #unspoilt #NSW #NewSouthWales #southcoast #southcoastnsw #tourism

Arrival: Wednesday February 20, from Mossel Bay

ETA: 6am

Departure: Friday February 22 at 11pm, to High Seas.

Length: 198m

Berth (a ship’s allotted place at a wharf or dock): E Berth

All ships must arrive at E berth for immigration but those staying for longer are “parked” elsewhere until their departure from E berth. Most passenger liners dock at E berth, only those asking to dock at the waterfront’s Jetty Two first need to clear into the country via E Berth.
