The Two Oceans Aquarium has opened the applications for the Young Biologist course for 2019. The course invites Grade 10 learners who are passionate about the marine environment and committed to positive action to partake. The course is free and takes place twice a year.

Successful applicants will spend four days at the Two Oceans Aquarium covering theory vital for volunteering, initially as presenters at the Touch Pool & Microscope exhibits.

Learners will spend the remaining three days at a local environmental education campsite. The focus of their time here will be on practical course work and team building.

After completing the course, the learners will have the option to become volunteers at the Two Oceans Aquarium, by completing a further module on a Saturday.

Each learner is required to facilitate an environmental cleanup and an eco-activity at their respective schools. This will allow the learners to share their knowledge and skills to other learners.

Six months after the course is complete, a graduation ceremony will be held.
