Environmentally-conscious Grade 9 learners in Cape Town now have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take part in the Marine Sciences Explorer course offered by the Two Oceans Aquarium’s Marine Science Academy for free.
It is a content-packed course offering learners hands-on education about what it takes to be a marine biologist, and introduces the students to what a career in marine science is all about.
This unique opportunity is made possible thanks to the generous support of Averda and applications are now open for the 2019 course.
The course will introduce Grade 9 pupils to the basic principles of oceanography, ecology and marine biology. It offers a good mix of theory and practical, hands-on activities to expose students to marine research and scientific methods. The purpose of the course is to aid Grade 9s in their choice of Grade 10 subjects and hopefully assist budding marine scientists with their pursuit of this career field.
