There’s nothing more heart-warming or spine-tingling than watching a fellow Capetonian do incredible things. And that’s exactly how we feel about trail running sensation, Ryan Sandes.

The Cape Town-born Sandes is currently competing in the major trail running event,  Ultra-trail Drakensberg 2021, and slaying the competition. This incredible event is a test of endurance and takes place over three days through the Southern area of the famous Maloti Drakensberg World Heritage Site.

The 37-year-old is competed in the 160km main event and won the race. This is the first time that he is running the race, and with tough terrain and chilly conditions, his progress is even more incredible.

However, Sandes is no stranger to doing things that seem impossible. The Red Bull Athlete ran 100km around his home due to COVID-19 restrictions, to help raise money for charity.
