Villiera is a family owned and run winery in the Stellenbosch, South Africa. They are a pioneering quality wine company committed to preserving the environment and have been unlocking the marvels of nature to produce distinctive wines and Cap Classique sparkling wines for over three decades.

Specialists in the Cap Classique category, their prestigious cuvees have been consistently recognised for their outstanding quality. Their flagship Villiera Monro Brut has been rated one of the 50 best wines in South Africa according to the SAWi ‘Grand Wines Collection’ (GWC), a wine selection that highlights South Africa’s best selection of consistently top-scoring wines. The result represents a condensed window of a wine’s achievements at multi-national blind tastings over multi-vintages. Only wines with a score of 93+ out of 100 were included in the ‘Collection’.

The award-winning Villiera Tradition Brut was the first Cap Classique produced by Villiera in 1984, with the help of Champagne producer Jean Louis Denois. Tradition Brut Rosé soon followed in 1987 as the first bottle fermented Rosé produced in South Africa.

Villiera’s Starlight Brut was later introduced as the first low alcohol Cap Classique in South Africa and Brut Natural was another pioneering initiative being the first no added SO² MCC in South Africa. It is a Blanc de Blanc created for those consumers who are environmentally aware and health conscious.

Their single varietal wines fall under the Villiera brand with these white and red wines characterised by their strong reflection of our unique terroir. Other wines in Villiera’s portfolio include Down to Earth, The Clan, Stand Alone single vineyard wines and Dak Wijn, the name given to a Sun Wine first made on Villiera in 2017.

Their commitment to sustainable use of our natural resources includes initiatives such as a solar power facility, water conservation, recycling, natural pest control methods and greening projects to reduce their carbon footprint.

To ensure the conservation of the natural environment a Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 2009 which covers 220ha of land. It is home to a number of mammals and attracts a huge variety of bird-life. Visitors can enjoy a game drive through the sanctuary which lasts two hours.

Social sustainability is another core philosophy in Villiera’s business and can be witnessed through their support for the Pebbles project, the Owethu Clinic and Early Childhood Development Centre and After-School Club.
