If you’re like us, the thought of welcoming winter may send shivers down your spine. As we slowly realise that we’ll need to dust off our rain boots and jackets pretty soon, we’re contemplating how we should be spending the last days of summer. Here are just a few fun ideas on how you can spend the end of summer.
Take a sunset hike:
There are two things Cape Town is renowned for – gorgeous beaches and incredible hiking trails. Why not take advantage of the last rays of summer by taking a sunset hike. Grab a few buddies and some snacks and enjoy a heart-pumping hike in the Helderberg Nature Reserve or Lion’s Head.
Be a tourist:
Sometimes the only way to appreciate your city is by playing tourist. With countless local attractions to choose from, there is something for everyone. From the history buff to the outdoorsman, Cape Town has it all.
Take a bike ride:
Hop on a rental bike and enjoy the ocean breeze along Sea Point promenade. If you’re feeling extra romantic, a few rental spots even offer the option to rent tandem bikes. If you’re looking for something more adventurous, there are unique e-bike tours that meander through the Cape Winelands, offering amazing views and a good workout.
Have a braai:
The word braai and summer go together like a good “chop ‘n dop.” There’s definitely nothing more South African than spending the last days of summer laughing and drinking around a fire. Invite a few friends over, grab the meat and start braaing.
Take a Day trip:
Cape Town has so many great gems to offer locals and tourists. Spend the day exploring the Cape Winelands or the Cederberg Wilderness and getting to know this amazing province.
