Capetonians across the Cape are rejoicing today as the Mother City’s dam levels have officially pushed past the 80% mark for the first time in years.
As of August 16, 2019, Cape Town’s overall water storage reached 81.3% thanks to the bountiful rains that graced the province last week.
The city’s lowest storage dam – Theewaterskloof – has finally pushed above the 70% mark, reaching 71.6% as of today.
Berg River and Steenbras Lower are Cape Town’s fullest dams at 100.5% and 100.7% respectively, followed by Steenbras Upper at 97.5% and Wemmershoek at 86.6%.
No more rainy weather is forecast for this week but we are hoping to see some showers early next week.
