Forecasts have proven true today [June 10] as heavy rainfall has graced many areas in the Mother City and the rest of the province.

The rest of the week is expected to bring even more rain, with gale force winds and chilly temperatures also on the cards.

Fish Hoek is currently experiencing some flooding with residents sharing pictures of the road filled with rainwater.

The Durbanville area is also experiencing heavy rains, with streets flooding in the suburb:

The Cape Flats are also receiving bountiful rains with flooding in many streets already visible:

Jacobsbaai is reporting strong winds and rains:

No flooding in Protea Valley yet but downpours are present in the area:

Tableview is also experiencing substantial rains:

The City is urging residents to report any flooding or weather related issues as soon as they arise.

“All City services and external agencies will be on standby to deal with the predicted adverse weather conditions. Residents are reminded to please ensure that they remove any potential blockages around their homes to limit the risk of localised flooding. Any weather related emergencies should be reported to the City’s Public Emergency Communication Centre by dialling 021 480 7700 from a cellphone or 107 from a landline,” the City said in a statement.
