The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has forecast significant rainfall for the metropole and surrounds tomorrow morning that could lead to localised flooding.
In addition, high seas with wave heights of between six and seven metres are expected along the coast from Cape Point to Plettenberg Bay on Saturday [August 15] morning, with rough seas, gale-force winds and very cold conditions.
“The adverse weather conditions will start easing late Sunday into Monday. As is custom, all relevant City departments and external agencies are on standby to deal with any impacts brought on by the forecast,” said Charlotte Powell, spokesperson for the City of Cape Town’s Disaster Management Centre (DMC).
“We remind residents to please report emergencies to our Public Emergency Communication Centre by dialling 021 480 7700 from a cellphone or 107 from a landline.”
