Locals are rejoicing as the weekend of rain finally pushed the overall dam levels for Cape Town back over the 50% mark.
As of June 24, the Mother City’s dam levels officially stand at 50.2% with all dams being bolstered by the bountiful showers.
The dam with the lowest levels, Steenbras Lower, previously stood at 38.9%. This increased to 40.5%, while Wemmershoek increased from 39.9% to 40.6%
We are sure the increases are not yet over as Cape Town is in for another weekend of bountiful rains which may lead into the new week as well.
Weather forecasts predict rain for the Mother City on Friday and Sunday as well as Tuesday next week.
There may even be rainy weather on Thursday and Saturday, with a 20% chance of precipitation predicted for both days.
While we wait for the welcomed rains, Capetonians are advised to bring their umbrellas along for their daily commute from Thursday.
