Dam levels in Cape Town reached a new milestone this week – finally pushing past the 60% mark after weeks of staying between 50 and 60%. At the same time last year, the dams were 32.4% full.

Steenbras Lower has noted a significant increase by 8%, the Berg River by 1.7% and Theewaterskloof Dam by 0.8%. The National Department of Water and Sanitation has advised that water restrictions in the City will only come under review once the dam levels have reached 85% full.

More rain has been forecast  for Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. So there is hope yet to reach well over 60%.
