Capetonians breathed a huge sigh of relief after some much welcomed rainfall last week. A year on from the harsh drought that left Cape Town’s water supplies near depleted, the rivers are flowing and the mountain waterfalls are gushing.
The people of Cape Town are collectively expressing their gratitude for the rainfall, as we’ve learnt with the drought that every drop really does count. After Saturday’s downpour, there is hope that dam levels will climb over the 60% full mark.
According to a South African Weather Services (SAWS) press release, Kirstenbosch received 62mm of rain in 24 hours.
Some Cape Town residents measured the rainfall for themselves.

The weather for the week is looking mostly clear and sunny. Temperatures are expected to reach 20°C by Wednesday. There is a chance of rain on Monday morning, so don’t leave home without an umbrella.
Anything is possible with Cape Town’s weather.
